Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer.
Who am I kidding? If you’ve been here in Savannah these last few weeks, it already feels like summer has arrived.
No matter what the thermometer says, this is the time of year that families start packing up the RV or the SUV to hit the road. The Great American Road Trip is something that is truly special to a lot of us. Seeing America on the ground from a moving vehicle is so much different that flying over the the Great Plains, Appalachia, and Low Country in an airplane. Is there anything better than watching the landscape change, listening to the ultimate mix-tape on the car stereo and eating at mom-and-pop diners just off the highway? And, of course, it’s always fun discovering a new hotel, inn, or campground along the way. Soon, Creekfire Motor Ranch will join the ranks of those fun stops when we open later this year!
This Memorial Day, try to get out and experience America. It doesn’t have to be a cross-country trip to Mount Rushmore or Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace. Visit a local monument, museum, or attraction that’s always been on your bucket list and get to know something new in your backyard.
Do you have any plans this Memorial Day weekend? What do you consider the “Ultimate Great American Road Trip”? Where have you never been that you’d like to go? Leave us a comment on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
